PERFORMANCE FILTER PROJECT
I will not be restocking these, once they are gone they are gone as i will be replacing them with a different design.
Here is the pcb and panel set for the performance filter, the first pcb/panel set to be released of many!
This is based on the first module i ever built and still use in my synth to this day, if you’ve seen my latest video you will have seen that for reliability reasons i have decided to rebuild my synth, so i may as well share the process for other people to build!
PLEASE NOTE this is the kosmo format, which is 20cm tall, if you have seen my zine on building diy synth you will know this is the format i use, and i know a few people who have begun to build in this format so im sorry eurorackers! i know rene has a plan to build a eurorack module! the info on this circuit and other René Schmitz designs do check over here https://www.schmitzbits.de/ms20.html
It works on the same eurorack power standard. +12v/GND/-12v
all of the components are written on the pcb, so even without any documentation you can get this beast built! however a Bill of materials is available below.
The panel is thick pcb material. its pretty damn sturdy! Its cool because when designing pcb’s you have 4 colours to play with. the tin colour, the silkscreen, the solder mask and the board colour! oh the wonders :D

i cant find a 4k7 potentiometer for the cutoff can i use a 5k
yes its fine! to be honest you could even get away with a 10k, a lot of the actual values arent super important to be right, a lot of the capacitors can be any capacitance in the ball park. ive found it to still work just the same :). So to clarify you need linear pots which are taper B. so on thonk they are labelles on this site with B100k and B5k :)

What value is RV1 and what does it do?
RV1 is a 10k trim pot, its to adjust how much resonance is available on the front knob. this is down to taste. completely 1 way is either resonance off or full resonance. just turn the resonance knob on the front right up and then twist RV1 till you have the max anmount of resonance you want
BC558’s but i have some bc559’s sitting around?,
they are pretty much the same. and will work the same in this circuit. i think the bc557’s will still work too. but i havent tried that.
